MRM in British Gas Free Swim Campaign

LONDON – British Gas is giving customers free swimming sessions at their local pool as part of its sponsorship of British Swimming.

Customers can download and print ‘free family swim’ vouchers from the British Gas microsite www.britishgasswimming.co.uk. The campaign will be promoted through TV and online ads and was launched during the centre spot of X Factor on Saturday night.

MRM has worked closely with British Gas to deliver this campaign and will be handling all elements of the customer fulfilment from the provision of the print at home swim voucher using MRM’s SmartCoupon technology through to customer services management, redemptions and payments.

Breaking news: MRM has acquired CFS

MRM has acquired Capita Fulfilment Services (‘CFS’) from The Capita Group Plc (‘Capita’) for an undisclosed consideration. The acquired business was part of the Capita Communications division within Capita Business Services.

 

Based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire  CFS provides a complete order fulfilment service including: multi-channel contact centre services for order taking, customer services and help-lines; Order processing, payment services, e-commerce; Warehousing, pick, pack and despatch.  

 

The transaction follows a review about the future direction of CFS announced by Capita on March 19, 2009. MRM will undertake its own appraisal and continue staff consultation regarding the future of the Wetherby site and 120 transferring employees.

 

This transaction broadens and deepens our public sector relationships as well as bringing an important presence in the charity sector. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to leverage MRM’s technology and expertise in consumer communication to the benefit of CFS customers.

Coupons for Cash Losses

The ISP is taking legal advice against retailers that repeatedly redeem coupons from consumers who have not bought the product. The ISP is collecting examples of coupon misuse and will be taking advice from lawyers to establish whether retailers can be taken to court for allowing or even encouraging coupon misuse. They also need to know whether they could force retailers to only accept coupons redeemed against the manufacturer’s product.

Peter Kerr, who is the MD of MRM and Chairman of the ISP’s coupon committee, has said that he has recently dealt with 15 cases where individual stores had tried to claim back a higher value of coupons than the total value of product sales.

ISP Seal

The ISP has launched a new scheme, the ISP Seal. This includes a logo which demonstrates to consumers that a promotion has gone through the ISP’s Legal Advisory Services and follows the law and the CAP Code and that the promoter has signed up to a special code of conduct committing to best practice.

ISP members have responded enthusiastically to the launch of the ISP Seal, with a number of them, including Kellogg’s and Coca-Cola, planning to incorporate it into their responsible marketing programs. MRM are in full support of this initiative and will be incorporating the ISP Seal into future promotions.

Iron Man Alex!

We saw a recent article in 13th May issue of Marketing publication and immediately recognised Alex Brooks from For Goodness Shakes as the Brand Manager of the week! We work with Alex and the team at For Goodness Shakes doing their on-pack coupon processing.

In the article he was asked to describe himself in three words, he responded with driven, relentless and ironman. In his spare time Alex races in triathlons and Ironman events internationally for Britain. On 5th April he qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. We wish him loads of luck in the Championships and are looking forward to hearing how he has got on!
